It’s no longer news that the world’s first cryptocurrency city just like “Wakanda” in Marvel’s Oscar-winning movie “Black Panther” will be built in Africa. Similarly, the real-life Wakanda is named “Akon City” after its initiator Akon, whose real name is Alioune Badara Thiam.

Akon, 45 years old Missouri-born producer and singer is of Senegalese descent. The prolific entertainer didn’t forget his root and had to take his lofty idea to his ancestral home country, Senegal.

However, Akon who apart from his entertainment prowess has ventured into humanitarian services. Until recently, he’s carrying out some humanitarian works in Africa through his Lighting Africa project. This has drawn him international recognition including support from the United Nations (UN).

Akon City is projected to be 100% crypto-based and will pioneer Africa’s first new cryptocurrency economy of the future.

Notwithstanding, all financial transactions and purchases will be done with the city primary coin “Akoin”.

Moreover, Akoin cryptocurrency is promising to be stable which will stimulate and support youth entrepreneurship across Africa. Leading to an economic stability and growth for the younger generation.

The new crypto-city will be built on a 2,000-acre of land which was gifted to him by the President of Senegal, Macky Sall.

Akon City will be situated at the seaside village of Mbodiene which is within five minutes drive from the new international airport. Also, the new city is within a short drive from Dakar, the capital city of Senegal.

Furthermore, Akon City when fully functional will be a master-planned city containing everything in a modern tech city. This will include a modern city with residential homes to malls, parks, schools, stadium, renewable energy and its own airport.

Projection and Plans for Akon City

Akon city will abound a lot of opportunities for anyone looking to step into the future. Brands, businesses and high-profile individuals will also have the opportunity to create and try experimental products or services in a futuristic environment.

Nevertheless, the city is being projected for completion in 10 years time. However, its construction had begun in March 2019 while the second stage of the project will commence in 2025.

A milestone for the project occurred on Monday 13th, which saw the agreement between the singer and the Senegalese Government. This prompted a tweet from the Akon claiming he had finalized agreement and looking forward to hosting you in the first cryptocurrency city of the future.

2020 is starting off as the first year of a new decade and it has truly begun on the right tech. This decennium will definitely see a lot of technological advancement in all around the tech world.

However, apart from the world’s first cryptocurrency city, we also shall see improvement or introduction of techs in other industries. These will include areas such as fintech, 5G, autonomous cars, internet of things (IoT), augmented reality etc.
